Welcome to OEFFA Fair Farms

In collaboration with the Agricultural Justice Project, OEFFA’s Fair Farms Program exists to help farmers in Ohio and across the North Central Region enact clear, fair labor policies and practices that improve employee quality of life and retention.

Agricultural Justice Project

The Agricultural Justice Project (AJP) is a non-profit organization working to transform our agricultural system by seeking justice, fairness, and empowerment for all who labor—from farm to retail. Central to AJP’s mission are three key principles:

  • All humans deserve respect;
  • All humans deserve the freedom to live with dignity and nurture community; and
  • We all share responsibility for preserving the earth’s resources for future generations.

The organization applies a systemic approach to tackle the root causes of injustice. Their advocacy and solidarity work involves education, outreach, technical assistance, training, and other tools.

Food Justice Certification

To support AJP’s efforts to transform the existing agricultural system, there’s the Food Justice Certification (FJC). OEFFA became a certifier of the FJC label in 2019 and continues to partner with AJP and interested farms in addressing ethical working and living conditions for agricultural system workers and fair trade pricing for farms and agricultural businesses.

Considered a domestic fair trade label for farms and food businesses in North America, brand holders, restaurants, retailers, and businesses of all types can become Food Justice Certified.
